On Ghana

Here I have put together some practical information on travel, accommodation, vaccination and other tips. I will keep updating the page. (Last update May 2013).

Travel

Airlines trafficking Ghana are Lufthansa,  klm and British Airways. UPDATE: More airlines are now flying to Ghana, Virgin, Turkish and Delta airlines for instance. A ticket will cost somewhere between $ 1000- 2000.

Currency

GHC (Ghana Cedi) 1 is almost equal to USD 1,98 and EUR 2,57 (May 2013). It is recommended to bring Dollars or Euros and change to GHC here.

The Brandt Guide ”Ghana” came out in a new edition 2012. It is the best guidebook available. Buy it for comprehensive background information and updated travel information!

Two travel agencies describe their Ghana trips – Read about  12 days in Ghana in Danish or 23 days in Ghana in Swedish. Very inspiring!

Online

There is also a volunteer travel site called GhanaTravel. You can also join GhanaSvenskar on Facebook if you are planning to stay a while.

Vaccination

Other tips

Be sure to send your passports to the Ghanaian embassy in Denmark (click “consular”) well in avance, sometimes they take up to three weeks to process the visa-application
